Bring calls, meetings and extensions together.

An office communication system needs to match the way calls are handled. Reception, departments, remote staff and meeting rooms may need different devices and call arrangements, while existing numbers and lines can influence the choice of platform.

EDISON covers IP-PBX, VoIP, video conferencing and unified communications. The service also includes mobile and softphone connections to the office PBX, plus voice gateways where analogue lines, fax or E1/T1 trunks need to be considered.

  • IP-PBX and VoIP: Avaya IP Office, Cisco Business Edition and Siemens
  • HD video conferencing
  • Unified communications with Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365
  • Mobile phones, softphones and Wi-Fi phones connected to the office PBX
  • Voice gateways for E1/T1 trunks, analogue lines and fax

Calls across desks, devices and offices.

The useful detail is how people reach your business and how staff communicate across devices and locations.

Incoming calls and office extensions

Start with reception and departmental call handling: where calls arrive, who answers them and how they are transferred. Extension numbers, call groups and the number of concurrent calls help define the PBX requirement. An existing phone system should also be reviewed for equipment or lines that need to stay in use.

Mobile, desktop and meeting-room use

Some staff need a desk phone; others need access while working away from their desk. Softphones, mobile connections, Microsoft Teams and room conferencing should be considered against the actual working pattern. Platform compatibility, licensing and the network conditions need to be confirmed for the chosen arrangement.

Connections across offices

Voice and video rely on the network between users and systems. For several offices, including Hong Kong and mainland China locations, review the site connections and how calls should move between them. Existing analogue or trunk connections may require a gateway rather than a direct connection to the new platform.

Keep the changeover practical.

A replacement system needs a plan for existing numbers, extensions and active lines, including any arrangements with the line provider. Agree which call paths and devices should be checked before the old system is removed.

Share an extension list, current platform and line details, office locations and any meeting-room requirements. Include the planned move or changeover date if the phone project is part of an office relocation.
